Washington Air Guard Takes 3rd Place At National Guard Shooting Championship

3rd Place Team - Washington Air National Guard

Teams from Washington and 17 other states competed at this year's National Guard Bureau Shooting Championships held Camp Robinson, in Little Rock AR May 29-31. The Championships involved over 112 Army and Air National Guard shooters who had advanced through two qualification phases to make it to the national event.

The small bore rifle team from Washington's 141st Air Refueling Wing included: Lt. Col. Brian Miyamoto, Technical Sgts. Charles E. Deilke and Jason E. Kamp, and Sgt. Bruce D. Thompson.   The team won third place honors with a team score of 3413.00. Taking first place in the small bore rifle category was the Oregon Army National Guard team who scored 3506.00. The South Dakota Army National Guard team came in second place with a team score of 3500.00.

Approximately 1,628 shooters began phase one of the CNGB pistol matches with 364 shooters making it to phase two. From that number, the top five teams in the six shooting disciplines of combat rifle and pistol, small bore rifle and pistol, and air rifle and pistol were invited to compete for national honors.
