The Detachment 1, HQ Washington Air National Guard (WA ANG) Education and Training Office ranked number one as the organization producing the highest number of Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) graduates in the Guard/Reserve for school year 2001-2002. With assistance and support from Education Managers MSgt (now retired) Richard Bussa and MSgt Lori Ada, over 20 western Washington ANG students received CCAF degrees during the past year. That's the highest number of awarded degrees among the 56 participating Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve units across the country.
For being the top CCAF graduate producing organization, Det 1 qualifies to receive four Aerospace Education Foundation Pitsenbarger Awards (formerly know as Eagle Grant awards) to be awarded to airmen who continue to pursue a college degree. Pitsenbarger Awards for top performing organizations are based on the highest percentage of graduates produced among the eligible enlisted base population for each organization.
